Paul Swanson
Founder and Director

After 37 years of visionary leadership, Paul Swanson retired from his position as Swanson Industries CEO in 2001. Today he serves as a director of the company he founded in 1964.
Swanson established a lasting legacy, beginning with two employees in his chrome plating business to just under 700 employees today. Since its formation, Swanson Industries has solved some of the most technically challenging problems facing the hydraulics, machining and plating industries.
The employee-ownership philosophy and entrepreneurial spirit Swanson believes in have been key factors in the steady growth and success of the company.
In 1978, Swanson merged his own Swanson Plating with the CWS Company, a distributorship owned by Gary Cain, now a Vice President of Swanson. The purchase of Morgantown Technical Services and Morgantown Machine & Hydraulics brought two additional assets to the growing Swanson companies: Tom DeWitt, Swanson's President and CEO, and Frank Dulin, Swanson Industries Vice President. In 1999, Swanson negotiated the purchase of Commercial Drilling Supply from Bill Gibson, who now serves as a Swanson Vice President.
Swanson has served on the boards of One Valley Bank, Monongalia General Hospital, and currently serves on the board of Centra Bank. |
